In the early months of 2020, it was brought to our attention that Isihlangusabasha Primary School did not have any ceiling fans in their classrooms. Being situated near the Inanda Dam in Kwa-Zulu Natal, where it gets very warm in the summer months, this often meant that the learners would get extremely hot and struggle to concentrate on their schoolwork, especially if the classrooms were full.
As a result, the Affinity Group donated ceiling fans for every classroom. The teachers and learners have expressed that the ceiling fans have been a great help in keeping cool on hot days. Learners can stay more focused in class and are motivated to come to school and learn, even on hot days.
Affinity recognises the importance of looking out for those in need, particularly school children, as they are the next generation of employees. Creating an adequate learning environment for students means that they can work harder at achieving their goals and have better access to future study and employment opportunities.
